Learn the basics of leather working! Come make your own sunglasses case, just in time for the upcoming 4th of July weekend.
Starting with your choice of an Italian cow leather you will learn the essential skills of leather working: cutting, punching, edge dying and treatment, rivet setting and closure attachment, and saddle-stitch sewing! Learning these foundational leather working skills means you will leave this class not only with a beautiful hand-made sunglasses case, but also the knowledge and confidence to take on more challenging projects in the future.
You will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of colors of leather and thread, to create your own custom combination!
About Will Marshall
Will Marshall grew up on Lummi Island, here on Full Bloom Farm. After graduating with a BA in Economics from Union College in New York, his passion for travel and foreign cultures led him to move to Japan, where he lived for several years, teaching English, while learning the Japanese language. Will returned stateside to the SF Bay Area in 2005, where he managed several language schools for Berlitz, before transitioning into educational technology software in 2014. He currently calls Santa Cruz, CA, home.
Looking for a creative hobby he could practice in a tiny Bay Area apartment, Will began experimenting with leather working in 2015, starting with small projects in his home office. In the years since, Will has steadily gained in experience, and now focuses his more advanced leather working skills on making larger leather bags, satchels and the occasional commission. Will is excited to leverage his teaching experience and his decade of leather working experience into a one-day workshop.
